The History
of the AC Roadshow...

The AC Roadshow started life back in the late 1970's Alistair & Chris being the founder owners of the now famous AC Roadshow. Chris & Alistair joined forces after they left school. Both had an interest in music and both had been DJ'ing for another Mobile Disco called Solid Sound Mobile Disco, owned by a farmers son.

After several successful years Alistair parted company and Chris took sole ownership. Chris continued to build on the success of the Roadshow. His reputation amongst the Young Farmers Clubs is known nationally. In the mid 1990's Chris teamed up with his youngest brother Simon. Simon has become well known for his mixing talents and is solely responsible for the success of the Roadshow with the more demanding dance crowds.

The Roadshow has supported many famous people in its time. The supports include many Radio One DJ's, The Gladiators, Gloria Gaynor, Black Lace, Showaddwaddy, Dr and the Medics, Mud, Sweet, Bad Manners and many many more. The Roadshow is well travelled. Whilst based in the Northwest, the Roadshow has been as far as the Isle of Man, Torquay, Anglesey, London and Scotland.

Our greatest gig (so far)! was at the Wintergardens in Blackpool for the Young Farmers AGM when Simon Bates (ex radio One DJ) did his last live gig with us. A massive crowd saw Simon retire from PA's and he gave us a Radio One Tour Jacket with his name on it from 274/284am days (before FM) as a momento. Its a gig we will never forget!

Over the past few years, we have worked with more Radio one DJs such as Chris Moyles, Comedy Dave and Emma B. Bands, including the committments, Voulez-Vous, Doctor and the Medics, Bootleg Slade and Hooper, just to name a small few.

Starting off with vinyl way back then, we are now fully digital with the sole use of CD and minidisc. The full music collection is catalogued on a personal computer, which is present at all venues. The AC Roadshow has a number of sister Roadshows now, all continuing to offer a quality service throughout the UK. The AC Roadshow family tree is ever growing, but all where stunned in the beginning of 2006 when Chris finally announced his retirement, although it is still yet to be seen as he still goes out on occasional gigs including this years National Young Farmers AGM at Blackpool.
